Power relations do not rest solely on material capabilities. They also depend on perceptions, legitimacy, trust and support. Seldon Observatory studies both visible strategies and the subtler mechanisms that shape decisions.
Our approach is systemic and interdisciplinary. We study messages, but also their authors, relays, environment, the techniques employed and the interests they serve. To do so, we combine geopolitics, economics, law, history, sociology, cognitive science and the study of technology.
Seldon Observatory also seeks to foster dialogue between research and practice. Engagement with the experience of decision-makers and professionals grounds our work in reality, while scientific methods, source quality and the comparison of viewpoints provide the necessary rigour.
This combination enables us to produce analysis that is robust, accessible and useful both for understanding and for decision-making.
During the launch phase, the founding team is defining the Observatory’s research priorities, editorial programme and initial partnerships.
The leadership team safeguards the project’s vision and coherence. A multidisciplinary scientific committee will contribute to the methodological quality of our work, alongside a network of researchers, analysts, practitioners and specialists.
The full membership of these bodies will be presented as they are established.
