Contribute to Seldon Observatory

Seldon Observatory is currently being established. We are not recruiting employees at this stage, but we would like to meet people willing to contribute to our work occasionally or regularly through their knowledge, experience and areas of interest.

Our project is based on a simple idea: the most valuable analysis often emerges when people who do not usually work together exchange perspectives. In-depth knowledge of a subject, territory or sector matters more than a job title.

Expertise we are looking for

  • Countries, regions, geopolitics and international relations.
  • Economics, finance, business, law, standards and commercial power relations.
  • Emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, data, media and digital platforms.
  • History, sociology, anthropology, cognitive science and social psychology.

We are particularly interested in researchers and practitioners in cognitive science, social psychology and crowd psychology. Their contribution is essential to understanding belief formation, group dynamics and mechanisms of adherence. We are also looking for specialists in particular fields, economic sectors and geographical regions.

This list is not exhaustive. Rare expertise, field experience or a highly specialised area of interest may provide the missing perspective in a research project.

Ways to contribute

  • Join a research group.
  • Contribute to a study or provide specialist peer review.
  • Suggest a topic, case study or original source.
  • Speak at a debate, forum or event.
  • Take part in an interdisciplinary workshop.
  • Share professional experience or field knowledge.

The scope, timetable, confidentiality rules and publication conditions will be agreed with each contributor before their participation begins.

Propose a contribution

Briefly introduce your background, areas of expertise, the subjects you would like to work on and the type of contribution you have in mind. You may also attach publications, research or examples of previous work.

Each proposal will be reviewed against current or forthcoming research programmes. Relevant contributors may be contacted when a need matching their expertise arises.
